Forest Stomp features the entire band doing body percussion, with claps, thigh slaps and foot stomps, alternating with playing their regular instruments.
The band is divided into five groups: flutes and oboes, clarinets, alto saxes, trumpets, and a fifth group that includes all the larger tenor and bass instruments. Each group has an instrument part and a percussion part, printed as two staves on the same page.
In addition to all the body percussion action, each of the groups is featured on their band instruments on a short two measure solo passage.
